Overview

The Institute’s Nine Steps to SuccessTM a framework is the basis of the course, where the emphasis is on shared participant experiences, lessons learned, and best practice. Small-group exercises are used for each step in the framework to reinforce the lectures, and YOU are encouraged to bring your organization’s strategic planning material to share with the class and receive instructor feedback offline as time permits. BSI & George Washington University College of Professional Studies (GWUCoPS) - The Balanced Scorecard Institute The Balanced Scorecard Institute, a Strategy Management Group company provides training, certification and consulting services to commercial, government, and non-profit organizations in applying best practice in Balanced Scorecard, strategic performance management and measurement, and transformation and change management. Products and services include public and on-site courses, facilitation and consulting services, and information and tools used by executives, managers and analysts to transform their organizations into “performance excellence” organizations.

Terry Sterling

Terry Sterling

Terry Sterling is the Training Manager at the Balanced Scorecard Institute. Terry has over 20 years of extensive experience in strategy formulation and implementation utilizing the Balanced Scorecard methodology. He has instructed the Balanced Scorecard Professional and Master Professional Certification curriculums, in addition to the Key Performance Indicator Professional (KPI-P) Certification within the United States, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates.

He has worked closely with key executives, middle managers and first-line supervisors in several organizations by assisting them with the development of strategic plans and performance analysis to improve organizational performance. In addition to his experience in strategy implementation and planning, he has considerable experience in a variety of areas related to research and development, key performance indicators, scenario planning, strategy profiles, strategy mapping, promotional processes, and facility/property management.

As an international consultant, facilitator and lecturer, he has provided consulting and training services to both domestic and international clients such as the US Border Patrol, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, Abu Dhabi Police (UAE), the City of Richmond, VA, US Navy NAVAIR PMA 231, Ascendant Group (Bermuda), CARICOM (Caribbean Community), Linde Process Plants, Kingsgate Transportation, US Marines Semper Fit & Recreation, McLeod Software, Detecon Al Saudia (DETASAD), and the General Commission on Race & Relationships.

In addition to teaching, Terry developed numerous training courses over his career including upper division level bachelor’s degree courses for St. Petersburg College in Florida. The training courses developed centered around leadership, supervision, performance management, balanced scorecard, promotional processes and facility/property management for public safety administrations.

Terry has a MS in Managerial Leadership, a BS in Finance, an AAS in Law Enforcement, is certified as an Advanced Planner by the International Association of Law Enforcement Planners and is a former CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies) Assessor.
